9/4/10Last year I was
fortunate enough to get invited to ride with Specialized owner Mike
Sinyard,
a group of shop owners, media people, and Specialized employees, on a
journey from
Morgan Hill California to Las Vegas Nevada. The trip was fully
supported with 3 full -

factory team vans and trailers. It was an organized ride for The Susan
G Koman for
the Cure which Specialized is a huge supporter of. We had a mechanic,
masseurs,
chefs, drivers and domestiques to take care of any need we had during the
6 day trip.
Each day was 100 miles plus and we crossed through Yosemite and Death
Valley
along the way. It was one of the most amazing journeys I have been on.
Interbike 2010 is fast approaching, less
then 2 weeks away, and I am planning an epic
expedition that will be an even bigger personal achievement. A solo 1200
mile round
trip from Lancaster to Las Vegas via Yosemite (the long way - maybe the
wrong way).
A boy and his bike... I will leave the
Antelope Valley on September 13th and on a route
that will take me through Lake Isabella, Fresno, Copperopolis, Yosemite,
Mammoth,
Lone Pine & Death Valley. Then 3 days in Vegas for Interbike and the ride
home through
Searchlight, Baker, Barstow, High Vista, back to Lancaster. All in 13 days
total. Each
day will be 100-150 miles non-supported with only my bike and a hip pack
with supplies.

Hope to keep you entertained with my
suffering out on the road. I will take many pictures
of the weird things that I see and keep you updated with progress.
Wish me luck!!!
