Newsflash! This just in from the Silver Dollar Nationals in
Reno Nevada...
Team Block has an amazing kick off of the 2004 season. After a
slow start to the weekend the team steps it up on Sunday to
bring home 4 firsts, 2 seconds, a third and a fourth. Add that
to the 2 seconds, 2 thirds and a fourth from Saturday and it
makes for a whole lot of hardware!
The biggest Surprise of the weekend was the Cheeseburger. Casey
ripped it up both days. A second on Saturday and the win on
Sunday made him the star of the weekend!
Congratulations to Tyler Granger for his 3rd place on Saturday
and the win on Sunday. This makes Danger Granger the newest
member to the expert class. Every 10X in the BMX is about to
see a new champion!
Treyton Abbinanti must have been setting an example for Tyler
on how it is done because he rocked the 9I class on Sunday.
Saturday's 4th place just wasn't enough to satisfy him so he
came back Sunday to win with both guns blazin!
Hot Rod - Cole Astamendi had something to prove to everyone.
Especially to Rich for messing up his jersey. He handed it to
the 5 year olds in Reno taking home a big ole first place. We
at block apologize for the jersey and congratulate you on a
huge win!
The MotoMaster -
Cole McLaughlin busted out in 9I for a third on Saturday and a
second on Sunday! Battling with teammateTreyton and changing
positions for each day. Team Block was a hit in 9I.
Shrek tore it up in 14I with a second on Saturday and a third
on Sunday. Kory and Casey have been riding together a lot and
it showed up in Reno!
Anthony Martinez rounded out the team with a fourth place on
Sunday! This was huge finish for a kid just moving up into 5X
after the grands.
At this point, if we forgot someone or missed a result we will
let you know as soon as we hear about it. Our report came from
an overloaded Granger vehicle which would make any adult go absolutely
crazy. Imagine having the likes of Ian, Devan,
Tyler, Shrek, Cheeseburger, and poor little Cortney Granger
with you for 72 hours nonstop. Devin and Lori are saints! We
welcome your stories and pictures and cannot wait to hear more
. We will be updating the site little by little daily
and will continue to increase our focus on the sport of BMX.

The new era of Team
Block has finally arrived. In 2004 we reinvent ourselves and
return to BMX with an all new grass roots program. We will
change BMX as it is currently known (we have a history of
doing that)... Block Racing was invented late in 1989. One
hundred pro sized Block BMX frames were produced by Cycle
Craft in Tennessee. This lead the way for head bands, tee
shirts, uniforms, pad sets and number plates. In 1991 Block
was relocated back to Lancaster California. Without the
in-house manufacturing the frames we discontinued and the
sportswear line was going full blast. Block has had it's ups
and downs in the BMX world. We have sponsored top Pros, put on
clinics, even ran the Orchard BMX track. We have always lived
BMX just at different levels. Now with the Block Shop we are
back in BMX to stay. Not just to stay but to conquer it and
leave our mark. 2004 has given us opportunities to jump right
back into the mix and become a high profile team. Not only
will we brings friends and families together but will raise
some elite riders into the spotlight that they deserve. That's
what it is really all about. We don't sign up just to ride
around the track. We race to prove that we are the best we can
be. All of our goals are different. Some are just words, some
are truly paid for by puddles of blood and oceans of sweat.
Some are just natural gifts that can't be explained. One thing
is for sure - "IT IS AN EDUCATION". We learn to
apply ourselves. We learn of rewards for all of our hard work.
We will continue to apply these things far after BMX in our
families and careers. We learn to be champions through winning
and losing. We learn to be better human beings...
HAPPY NEW YEAR - BEST OF LUCK IN 2004 - MAY ALL OF OUR DREAMS
BECOME REALITY!
